Independent Artists Deserve Major Label Quality
Independent artists are thriving: dropping music, building their brands, and proving they don’t need big labels to succeed. But one major roadblock remains: mixing and mastering. Finding an engineer who gets your sound, fits your budget, and delivers on time can feel impossible. That’s why we created MXD – to invest in your sound by offering our award-winning team that delivers high-quality mixes, fast, so you can focus on what matters: releasing and growing your career.

Meet the Engineers

Jacob "Biz" Morris
Jacob "Biz" Morris began his career at 15 in Dallas, Texas, and has since earned multiple GRAMMY Awards and platinum records for his work with artists like Lecrae, Forrest Frank, David Kushner, Kirk Franklin, and Tori Kelly, totaling 11+ billion streams in 2026. He is the founder of MXD, an online mixing and mastering house built to put a real engineer in every artist's corner - not AI, not a one-click service, but a person who actually listens to their music. He was instrumental in establishing Georgia's first Dolby Atmos-enabled studio at Reach Records.

Connor Back
GRAMMY Award-winning audio engineer Connor Back is based in Atlanta and is known for his work across hip-hop, R&B, and pop. Holding gold and platinum records with 2.3+ billion streams to his name, he has contributed to projects like Lecrae's Church Clothes 4 and earned a Latin GRAMMY nomination for Maverick by Redimi2. A drummer with a sharp, detail-driven ear, Connor has become one of the most trusted mix engineers behind some of the genre's most prominent releases. At MXD, he brings a musician's instinct to every session, pairing technical precision with the feel that makes a record connect.

Zac Johnson
A Tulsa, Oklahoma, native, Zac Johnson began his career at Reach Records in 2022 as an intern and now leads the Spatial Audio department at MXD. Specializing in immersive audio production, he has worked on projects for artists such as David Kushner, Kirk Franklin, and Lecrae, using MXD’s Dolby Atmos-certified studio.

Lance Crowder
Lance Crowder, a Broomfield, Colorado, native, developed his passion for audio engineering from a young age and began his professional career at Reach Records in 2020. With experience working as an assistant to mastering engineer Colin Leonard and contributing to major artist projects like Justin Bieber and Beyoncé, Lance joined MXD full-time in 2024, adding his expertise to the creative team.
